osby mentioned earlier today how they think a gacha style system in a big console game that has no Microtransactions and instead gives you an abundance of those summon items through normal gameplay could be a good idea so long as it’s executed well.

And I believe the same can be said about another mechanic I’ve encountered in a couple of the few gacha games I’ve played. Said mechanic has a different name depending on the game, but the idea is that you use an item that you also acquire an abundance of through normal gameplay to essentially auto complete a stage you’ve beaten normally at least once and acquire the items you get through said stage just by using this level skip item.

In grind heavy games this would be a godsend. And in a console game it would be even better because there would be no annoying stamina mechanic to limit how many times you can play a level.
I’m a bit burnt out from final fantasy after playing 1 and 2 back to back so I think I wanna continue my classic RPG streak with another game but I’m not sure which one. I’m thinking either Ogre Battle or the original Shin Megami Tensei.

if you're gonna play smt1 i will recommend don't bother putting anything in the protag's magic stat because he can't ever actually learn magic spells or the like so it's basically a useless exercise
